Grandiosity is a key belief of the pathological narcissist, and one of the diagnostic criteria of Narcissistic Personality Disorder in the DSM-V. It is the unfounded belief of being superior and ‘better than’ others; and of being unique, special, or ‘more than’ others. This inflated view of the self is articulated through exaggerations or through outright pathological lying.
